Germany’s Tierarzt Plus Partners CoVet AI to Modernize Veterinary Clinical Documentation

Germany’s veterinary practice sector is taking another step toward AI-enabled clinical workflows, with Tierarzt Plus Partner (TPP) selecting CoVet as its AI-powered clinical documentation platform across its small-animal veterinary network.

The corporate announcement, distributed on September 29, states that TPP is rolling out CoVet as its exclusive AI-powered clinical documentation solution, beginning with more than 30 veterinary practices and targeting 80% adoption during the first year. The network supports approximately 1,900 employees, according to the latest distribution. CoVet’s own September company release, however, cites approximately 1,700 employees across nearly 110 clinics, indicating that the network figures may reflect different reporting dates or organisational definitions.

From AI Scribe to Network-Level Veterinary Infrastructure

CoVet is designed specifically for veterinary professionals and automates several documentation-intensive activities, including consultation transcription, SOAP-note generation and client communication workflows.

For TPP, the significance is broader than deploying an AI transcription tool in individual clinics. The network is introducing a common clinical-documentation technology across multiple practices, potentially creating greater consistency in how consultations and medical records are documented.

TPP operates a network of small-animal practices and clinics across Germany and provides partner practices with centralised operational, clinical and business support. Its own website describes the organisation as a network focused on maintaining and developing veterinary-care structures across Germany.

Rollout Starts With 30+ Practices

The implementation will initially involve more than 30 practices, before expanding across the wider network.

TPP has set an internal target of 80% adoption during the first year, making the programme a useful real-world test of whether veterinary AI can move beyond individual early adopters into a multi-practice operating environment.

The stated objectives include reducing administrative workload, improving consistency of clinical documentation and giving veterinarians more time for patient care and communication with pet owners.

CoVet claims its platform can save clinics more than two hours per veterinarian per day, although this is a company-reported performance claim rather than independently validated evidence.

Why the Development Matters

Clinical documentation is one of the most time-intensive administrative activities in veterinary practice. Unlike generic workplace AI tools, veterinary clinical copilots can be configured around consultation structures, medical terminology, SOAP records and veterinary-specific workflows.

The TPP deployment therefore provides an example of a potentially important shift in veterinary AI adoption: from individual-veterinarian experimentation toward network-wide implementation. For veterinary groups, the economic proposition is potentially linked to three areas:

  • Reduced documentation time

  • Greater consistency of medical records

  • More clinician time available for consultations and client interaction

However, the commercial impact will depend on actual adoption, workflow integration, documentation accuracy, data governance and sustained clinician usage.

Wider Expansion Strategy for CoVet

The TPP agreement comes shortly after several other CoVet developments in 2026, including integrations with veterinary practice-management systems and expansion into veterinary education. CoVet also announced in September that it had been acquired by IDEXX, with the company stating that existing customers would retain the same product, support team and integrations.

This places the TPP rollout within a broader strategy in which AI-based clinical documentation is becoming increasingly integrated with the veterinary technology ecosystem.

Strategic / Analyst View

The TPP deployment is significant because it moves veterinary AI adoption from the “AI assistant for a veterinarian” model toward the “AI-enabled workflow for an entire veterinary network” model.

The critical indicators over the next 12–18 months will be actual adoption versus the 80% target, clinician retention and usage, documentation-quality measures, integration with practice-management systems and measurable changes in administrative time.

For the European veterinary sector, the development also demonstrates how consolidating veterinary groups can become important distribution channels for specialised AI platforms. If network-level implementations demonstrate measurable operational benefits, veterinary groups could increasingly evaluate AI as part of their core practice infrastructure rather than as an optional productivity application.
