Al Watania Poultry Deepens Cobb-Vantress Partnership to Advance Saudi Localization

Saudi Arabia | Poultry | Genetics | Food Security

Saudi Arabia’s Al Watania Poultry has entered a strategic agreement with Cobb-Vantress focused on breeder production and distribution, technical expertise and localisation of poultry knowledge.

The agreement was announced alongside other strategic milestones during the Middle East Poultry Expo.

The development is significant because Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in domestic poultry production as part of its broader food-security strategy.

Genetics is one of the most important components of poultry self-sufficiency. Increasing domestic breeder capacity reduces dependence on external supply chains while improving the ability of producers to respond to local production requirements.

Genetics alone is insufficient

Successful localisation requires integrated capabilities covering:
breeding → hatchery → vaccination → biosecurity → nutrition → farm management → processing.

That creates significant opportunities for animal-health companies.

As Saudi poultry production expands, demand should increase for breeder vaccines, diagnostics, hatchery sanitation, mycotoxin control, gut-health products and precision flock monitoring.

The Cobb relationship also demonstrates that localisation does not necessarily mean eliminating international partnerships. Instead, the model increasingly involves international genetics and technology combined with local production, technical capability and capital.

Saudi Arabia is therefore emerging as an increasingly important animal-health market in the Middle East.

Animal-health industry takeaway

Saudi poultry localisation is creating opportunities well beyond poultry production itself, particularly across genetics, vaccines, diagnostics, biosecurity and production technologies.
