Inside the Global Pipeline: Injectable Peptides That Could Transform Veterinary Medicine
If the first generation of injectable veterinary peptides focused primarily on hormones such as insulin, oxytocin and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues, the next generation is targeting a much broader range of diseases.
Today, universities, biotechnology companies and global animal health manufacturers are investigating injectable peptides for bacterial infections, chronic inflammation, osteoarthritis, wound healing, tendon injuries, immune disorders and even cancer.
Unlike traditional antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs, these peptide candidates are designed to interact with highly specific biological pathways, opening the door to precision veterinary medicine. Although relatively few next-generation injectable peptide drugs have reached commercial veterinary markets, the research pipeline is expanding rapidly.

1. Injectable Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs): A Potential Alternative to Antibiotics
