Vetspire, a leading artificial intelligence operating system for veterinary clinics and animal hospitals, announced a significant growth equity investment from global technology investment firm Battery Ventures.
Operating as an independent standalone enterprise, Vetspire will leverage the strategic capital injection to accelerate product innovation, expand its generative AI capabilities, and deliver enterprise-grade software to veterinary organizations of all sizes.
Accompanying the funding announcement, healthcare technology executive Zachary Seely has been appointed as Vetspire’s new Chief Executive Officer. Seely joins President Joe Mazzarella and the existing executive team to guide the platform’s next phase of market expansion across North America.

Executive Commentary & Strategic Vision
“Vetspire is already operating at the cutting edge of veterinary software, and I am thrilled to lead the organization as it ramps up innovation in its next phase of growth,” said Zachary Seely, incoming CEO of Vetspire. “As an independent company, we’ll continue investing in the platform, particularly in AI, to make every clinic and hospital we serve more efficient and more clinically effective.”
“We think Vetspire has a tremendous opportunity to grow as a forward-thinking, independent provider of technology for veterinary practices, from large, multi-site operators to smaller independent clinics,” said Chelsea Stoner, General Partner at Battery Ventures.
“Vetspire is the rare platform that veterinarians actually love using, and its embedded AI turns hours of daily paperwork into more time caring for pets,” added Dillon Joyce, Principal at Battery Ventures.

Currently implemented across more than 800 animal hospitals and veterinary clinics in the United States and Canada, Vetspire serves as the core electronic medical record (EMR) and practice information management system (PIMS) for leading healthcare networks—including Thrive Pet Healthcare, Petfolk, and Heart + Paw.

Industry Impact: Solving Veterinary Burnout via AI Workflow
Veterinary medicine faces severe staff shortages, high rates of professional burnout, and heavy administrative loads. Traditional PIMS require clinical staff to spend hours typing SOAP notes and updating records after hours.
By embedding AI capabilities directly into clinical workflows, Vetspire mitigates administrative bottlenecks:
-
Ambient AI Scribing: Captures exam room dialogue and converts ambient audio into structured SOAP medical records in real time.
-
Patient Summarization & History Analysis: Synthesizes years of complex medical records into instant actionable summaries for fast case prep.
-
Democratizing Enterprise Tech: Provides single-doctor practices with the same AI tools, dynamic inventory systems, and predictive scheduling used by regional hospital chains.
