Human biopharmaceutical leader Adimmune Corporation has officially entered the veterinary healthcare sector through its subsidiary, Benmu Biotech (Benova Bio). Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture granted animal vaccine licensing for Benmu Biotech’s recombinant bivalent vaccine targeting Porcine Circovirus (PCV) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. Hyo / SEP).
Co-developed alongside Taiwan’s Agricultural Technology Research Institute (ATRI), the approval marks the Adimmune Group’s first animal health authorization. The milestone positions the company to tap into Southeast Asia’s $1 billion annual swine vaccine market.

1. Disease Impact & Clinical Validation
Porcine Circovirus Type 2 (PCV2) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (the causative agent of Swine Enzootic Pneumonia) are two of the most damaging viral and bacterial pathogens in global pig production. Together, they trigger Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC), leading to growth stunting, poor feed conversion efficiency, and high mortality rates in nursery and finishing pigs.

Independent challenge and field trials conducted at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology demonstrated that piglets vaccinated with Benmu Biotech’s bivalent formula showed:
-
Lower Viral Load (Viremia): Significant reduction in circulating PCV2 blood titers post-exposure.
-
Higher Survival & Growth: Statistically significant improvements in nursery piglet survival rates and average daily weight gain (ADWG) compared to unvaccinated control groups.
-
Lower Stress Burden: Consolidates two separate vaccination schedules into a single injection, reducing handling stress on young pigs.
2. Market Dynamics: Capturing Asia’s $1 Billion Swine Vaccine Sector
The global livestock vaccine market accounts for roughly two-thirds of the total $13 billion animal vaccine sector, with swine biologicals representing $1.6 billion to $2.0 billion globally. Asia alone holds over half of the world’s swine population, translating to an estimated $1 billion regional market for swine vaccines.

Because PCV vaccines alone constitute over 55% of all swine vaccine sales, using PCV as the biological foundation for multivalent combinations provides a strong commercial entry point.
3. Expansion Timeline & Strategic Roadmap
Benmu Biotech, founded in 2018 with backing from parent company Adimmune, is executing an aggressive rollout plan.
General Manager Hung Yueh-Peng confirmed that Southeast Asia represents the primary international growth pillar, with targeted distribution focus on Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand—which together represent roughly 70% of Southeast Asia’s total swine production.
