SynthecaBio Expands into Animal Vaccines, Veterinary Drugs & Pet Healthcare

South Korea’s SynthecaBio plans to add veterinary medicines, animal vaccines, livestock disease control and pet healthcare to its existing AI and genomics-based precision medicine business.

Seoul, September 2, 2026 — South Korean AI drug-development company SynthecaBio (신테카바이오) is expanding its business scope into animal vaccines, veterinary medicines, livestock disease control and companion-animal healthcare, as it seeks new commercial opportunities beyond its existing human precision-medicine and AI drug-development activities.

The company plans to submit amendments to its corporate articles at an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting scheduled for September 15, formally adding animal-health related businesses alongside diagnostics, precision medicine, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and healthcare products.

AI drug discovery moves into animal health

SynthecaBio says the expansion will leverage its existing AI drug-development, genomic analysis and research infrastructure, rather than creating an entirely separate business platform. The company intends to identify areas with stronger commercial potential and develop them progressively.

The move follows an earlier 2025 collaboration with a global animal-pharmaceutical company to apply SynthecaBio’s DeepMatcher AI drug-discovery platform to veterinary therapeutic development. DeepMatcher uses AI-based technology and a large compound library to support candidate discovery.

Companion animal opportunity

The proposed business scope also includes pet healthcare products and animal health functional products, positioning SynthecaBio across both veterinary therapeutics and the rapidly expanding companion-animal health segment.

Analyst view: The strategy is significant because it extends an AI-first drug-discovery model from human medicine into animal health, where pharmaceutical companies increasingly require faster candidate identification, disease-specific research and differentiated veterinary products. However, the September 2026 announcement represents business diversification and commercialisation planning, not evidence that SynthecaBio has already launched a veterinary vaccine or approved veterinary drug.

Industry significance: SynthecaBio is positioning animal health as a potential new revenue vertical spanning veterinary drugs + vaccines + livestock biosecurity + pet healthcare, while retaining its core AI and genomic capabilities.
