IFF Launches Omni-Bos™ PHY Dairy Phytase for Improved Nutrient Utilisation

New York, September 17, 2026: IFF has launched Omni-Bos™ PHY, a phytase enzyme developed specifically for dairy cattle, initially targeting markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

The technology is designed to break down phytate and improve the availability of nutrients already present in feed. According to IFF, development studies showed improved phosphorus and phytate digestibility, alongside improvements in the digestibility of crude protein and calcium.

IFF also reports that the product reduced undegraded phytate reaching the abomasum by approximately 70% compared with a control diet in one study.

The company says improved nutrient utilisation could reduce dependence on supplemental phosphorus and certain protected amino acids while reducing nitrogen and phosphorus excretion.

Industry significance

The launch extends phytase technology further into ruminant nutrition, where the digestive environment has historically limited conventional phytase performance. The commercial opportunity is particularly relevant as dairy producers face pressure to improve feed efficiency while controlling input costs and nutrient losses.
