The scientific programme included seven oral presentations and 51 poster presentations, together with a sponsored symposium focused on calf health.
One area of research examined maternal vaccination against Cryptosporidium parvum and its potential role in supporting neonatal calf health.
Prevention Moving Earlier in the Production Cycle
The research portfolio reflects the growing emphasis on prevention during the neonatal period, when disease can have disproportionate effects on mortality, growth, antimicrobial use and future productivity.
Maternal vaccination is particularly relevant because it seeks to influence neonatal protection before or shortly after birth through passive immunity.
