Weaver Brands Acquires Shapley’s, Expanding Its Premium Equine Grooming Portfolio

Weaver Brands, the equine and outdoor lifestyle platform backed by Blue Point Capital Partners, has acquired Shapley Ltd., adding a long-established equine grooming brand and expanding its presence in the premium horse-care products segment.

Announced on October 1, 2026, the acquisition represents Weaver Brands’ third add-on transaction since partnering with Blue Point Capital Partners. Shapley’s, headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida, was founded in 1938 and has operated under its current ownership since 1991. The company manufactures shampoos, conditioners, hair polishes and other grooming products designed for equine skin and coat care.

Its portfolio includes the flagship Original MTG and MTG Plus brands, alongside a broader range of grooming and coat-care solutions. Shapley’s sells through distributors and dealers and serves customers in North America and international markets. The company’s established relationships with professional groomers, competitive riders and horse owners provide Weaver with an existing customer base and product portfolio in a specialist category.

The acquisition adds to Weaver’s existing range of equine and enthusiast-market products. The company operates across equine, pet, leathercraft, livestock, outdoor and related categories. Blue Point’s investment strategy for Weaver has included expanding the platform through acquisitions and developing its product offerings and distribution capabilities. Financial terms of the Shapley’s transaction were not disclosed in the acquisition announcement.

Strategic significance

The transaction reflects a continuing consolidation trend in specialist animal-care and equine lifestyle products, where established brands and distribution relationships can complement broader platforms. Grooming products also offer a different commercial profile from prescription veterinary medicines: purchases are often linked to routine care, performance preparation, appearance and repeat-use consumer demand.

For Weaver, Shapley’s brings a recognized name and a focused product range without requiring the platform to build an equivalent brand organically. The opportunity will depend on maintaining the trust associated with Shapley’s products while potentially leveraging Weaver’s wider distribution, marketing and category-development capabilities.

The acquisition is also notable for the role of private-equity-backed platforms in consolidating fragmented enthusiast markets. However, the announcement does not disclose revenue, profitability, valuation or planned integration changes, so the financial contribution of Shapley’s to Weaver cannot yet be quantified.
