VIV Africa 2026 in Kigali Spotlights Feed Costs, Animal Health, and Livestock Productivity

VIV Africa 2026 is taking place at the Kigali Convention Centre (October 7–8), preceded by a Leadership Conference on October 6. Organizers highlight rising feed costs, animal-health risks, productivity pressures, and limited access to finance as key challenges for poultry, dairy, and wider livestock sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The exhibition features around 150 exhibitors across feed ingredients, animal health, farm production, breeding, processing, and food engineering, with a dedicated Dairy Pavilion. Technical seminars cover water-based nutrition, gut health, probiotics in broilers, and disease prevention.

Industry leaders note that feed represents 60–70% of production costs for many African livestock operations, making ingredient sourcing, formulation efficiency, and local alternatives critical topics. Concurrently, disease outbreaks, climate variability, and market access continue to shape investment decisions across the value chain.

VIV Africa serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and business matchmaking, connecting African producers with global suppliers, researchers, and financiers focused on sustainable intensification of animal protein systems.
