A new French veterinary initiative, DÉFIVET, held its founding event on September 22 at the headquarters of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) in Paris.
The initiative aims to bring together veterinarians trained or practising in France, strengthen professional cohesion and increase the visibility and influence of the veterinary profession within French society.
The organisation is positioning the veterinary profession as a contributor not only to clinical animal care but also to broader issues involving animal health, human health, food systems and One Health.
The launch is supported by the French veterinary federation FSVF, WOAH and animal-health company Ceva.
The development is relevant against the backdrop of veterinary workforce pressure across many countries. Veterinary shortages, uneven geographic distribution of practitioners and increasing demand for preventive animal health are making professional organisation and workforce planning increasingly important.
