Hatsun Launches Go-Dhan Programme to Strengthen Dairy Farmer Support

Dairy company Hatsun Agro Product has launched the Go-Dhan farmer-support programme in partnership with the state government and State Bank of India.

The programme is designed to improve dairy farmers’ access to financing, government schemes, technical support, modern dairy practices and technology.

The initiative was launched in Bhubaneswar and forms part of Hatsun’s broader engagement with dairy producers and supply-chain development.

Beyond Milk Procurement

The initiative reflects a broader evolution in dairy-company strategy.

Large dairy processors increasingly have an incentive to improve producer productivity because higher-quality and more consistent milk supply directly supports processing efficiency and margins.

Farmer-support programmes can address several production constraints simultaneously, including:

• animal nutrition;

• veterinary care;

• breeding;

• farm finance;

• technology adoption; and

• market access.

Analyst View

The development illustrates the emergence of the integrated dairy ecosystem model, in which processors increasingly combine milk procurement with producer services.
