Airvet Enters Canada Through Novel Partnership for Ontario Veterinary Telehealth

Veterinary telehealth provider Airvet has established its first Canadian veterinary partnership through an agreement with Ontario-based Novel, extending access to virtual veterinary advice, triage and prescription fulfilment for participating pet owners across Ontario.

Announced on October 2, 2026, the partnership connects Airvet members with Novel’s veterinary services. Pet owners can consult a veterinarian online for advice and triage and, where clinically appropriate, receive prescribed medication delivered to their homes. Novel will fulfil and deliver approved prescriptions across Ontario on a next-day basis, seven days a week, without an additional delivery fee to the pet parent, according to the announcement.

Novel is an Ontario-based companion-animal veterinary company founded in 2024. Its model extends veterinary services beyond the traditional clinic through technology-enabled care and a subscription-oriented approach. The partnership combines Airvet’s virtual-care access with Novel’s local veterinary and medication-delivery infrastructure.

Implications for veterinary service delivery

The agreement reflects the growing use of digital tools to extend access to veterinary advice and support continuity of care. Virtual consultations can be useful for initial triage, follow-up discussions, general guidance and determining whether an in-person examination is needed. Prescription fulfilment and delivery may also reduce logistical friction for eligible cases.

However, telehealth does not replace physical examination when a condition requires diagnostic testing, hands-on assessment, emergency intervention or procedures. The scope of virtual veterinary practice and prescribing is also subject to applicable provincial rules and professional requirements.

The announcement specifically confirms online advice and triage, together with prescription fulfilment and delivery. It does not provide detailed performance metrics for remote monitoring, clinical outcomes, consultation volumes or the proportion of cases managed without in-person visits. These will be important indicators for assessing the model’s impact as the partnership develops.

Commercial significance

For Airvet, the Ontario agreement represents a route into a new national market through a local partner rather than a standalone clinic network. For Novel, it offers access to Airvet’s participating pet-owner base and the potential to integrate its services into a broader virtual-care benefits platform.

The partnership highlights how veterinary telehealth businesses may increasingly rely on regional clinical and pharmacy-delivery partners to combine digital access with local service execution. Its longer-term value will depend on adoption, care coordination, regulatory compliance and the ability to demonstrate convenience without compromising clinical standards.
