Parnell’s nixiFLOR Expands Generic Competition in Bovine Respiratory Disease

Parnell’s nixiFLOR represents a new generic option for bovine respiratory disease (BRD), combining the antimicrobial florfenicol with the anti-inflammatory drug flunixin meglumine.

Launched in the United States in April 2026, nixiFLOR was described by Parnell as the first FDA-approved generic version of Resflor Gold. The product is indicated for treatment of BRD associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma bovis, together with control of BRD-associated fever in beef and non-lactating dairy cattle.

The formulation provides two therapeutic functions in a single injectable product: antimicrobial treatment and control of pyrexia. Parnell positions the generic as a lower-cost alternative to the branded reference product.

BRD remains one of the economically important disease complexes in cattle production because respiratory disease can affect mortality, treatment costs, weight gain and long-term lung performance.

The commercial significance of nixiFLOR therefore extends beyond a single product. The arrival of bioequivalent generic products can introduce price competition into established veterinary-pharmaceutical categories, potentially influencing purchasing decisions by veterinarians, feedlots and cattle producers.
